Sneeuw over
Curacoa .More than Bolitas: How the Colombian Narco cartels took control of the
Antilles and Aruba.
Snow over Curacao demonstrates in a remarkable manner
how Colombian, drug gangs and their accomplices have in recent years virtually monopolized the
Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. Supra Organized C riminal organizations from Medellín, Cali and Bogotá
stationed comisionista (intermediaries) in Willemstad, Oranjestad and
Philipsburg for the purpose of smuggling tons of cocaine into the Netherlands
Antilles as a means of reaching the lucrative, European and American markets.
In an amazingly simple manner the cocaine cartels mainly from the northern Colombian La Guajira have infiltrated the Antillean and Aruban political and business sectors ,as well as the police agencies. The result of corrupt practices is dramatic: and has gone on virtually unhindered for decadesare smuggled , large quantities of drugs (an estimated 200,000 pounds per year) to Europe. By swallowers and body packers, but also container loads simultaneously from the barely secure seaport of Curaçao Willemstad.
Snow over Curaçao also reveals how drug millions using an ingenious Antilles “construction industry” 'are laundered. Police and Justice are virtually powerless against the South American cartels. In daily practice, Antillean and Dutch investigators previouslyare at war amongst themselves, rather than tackling the serious crimininal issues plaguing bthe islands. Snow over the Antilles reveals how the Islands are a Haven for the Colombian Narco traffickers and how the Italian Mafia is also entrenched in the islands.
